Snow day!...?

I'd like to say I created the picture to my left, but alas - there isn't quite enough snow to accomplish that. Or... you know... quite enough not busy streets of Manhattan.

Anyway! Yes! First snow day of the semester... and of the year I think? Unfortunately it's more like slush day... really gross outside. Warmer than the last couple days, but too gross to venture outside. So there's the kicker. :-\

My week has been going well so far. I've been waking up 2 hours early every day, working out, and get this - eating 3 meals a day. WTF? I haven't done that consistently since... okay, I'm not sure I ever have. But I've been feeling good. Staying within my points. No giant changes yet, obviously, since it's only been 3 days. But I'm really optimisitc. Which is something for me. ;-)

I woke up a little later today, but because I didn't have anywhere to go. Hah. But I'm proud of the way my day has gone. I woke up, ate breakfast, worked out, and then went on a cleaning spree. Did some dishes (as many as I could fit in the rack... going to do the rest later), cleaned the counters, took out recycling, cleaned the stove top (as much as I could), cleaned Matilda's table, swiffered the kitchen floor, and cleaned the living room. How 'bout dem apples?

So... I can just sleep the rest of the day, right?

Meh. I guess there a couple more things I can finish up. Take out the trash in my room. The room is relatively clean, as much as it can be. All my clothes don't fit in my dresser and cubes, so there's a pile, which I've made as small as possible, next to my dresser. I'd look for more solutions, but honestly, at this point we're only here for a few more months. I don't want to make any more investments before we need to move. I do know that I'm going to need to get rid of my dresser and get a new one... it's so old and small. I've only been reluctant because it was my dresser at my grandma's house, and I'm nostalgic. I may take off a knob and keep it.

Alright, I need to go do some reading for class in the morning. (If we have it.) Ta ta!

Trying to create a routine...

Okay, just trying to create a daily routine for myself - figure this is a good place to jot all that down.

I'm officially in love with WW Online because of all the resources. I'm going to use one of their workout plans daily. One of the ones that doesn't require any gym equipment... because I can't afford to go to the gym. lol

So this is what I'm going to hold myself to Monday - Friday:

1. Wake up at least 2 hours before I need to leave the house. (Yes, even on my early days.)

2. Eat breakfast: Cereal and a fruit

3. 25 - 30 minute workout (care of WW Online)

Stuff for every day:

- Drink a lot more water.

- WW recommended things:

- 2 tbsp. "healthy oil" (Not sure if I'll be able to keep that one up.)

- Take a multivitamin daily. (Something Mike already does.)

Things I need to buy food wise:

- More fruits

- Cottage Cheese

- Lunch items to make when I'm home, to avoid going out to eat

- Juice

Hoping to put this all into action come Monday... now that I'm figuring out exactly what I want to do. I'm really going to try my hardest to keep this all up. So we'll see. Fingers crossed!

I also need to get a scale... because it'll be kind of hard to track my weight without one. Though I told Mike he could just pick me up every week and guess. That would work, right?

Okay yummy food time.

Mmmm health.

So I've made the decision that I'm not as healthy as I could be. So now is the time to fix that! The nurse at the doctor's office the other day was so kind to tell me how much I weighed the last time I was there. (I don't know why anyone would do that.) And I wasn't happy. I didn't gain a lot of weight, but I did gain some. And that's not cool with Kerrie.

So! My steps are as follows:
Starting yoga with Rose next week. (Hopefully will be weekly, or as regular as we can make it.)
Joined Weight Watchers Online.
Find a way to be active while still being able to breathe!

Huzzah!

WW Online seems cool so far. I don't think it'll be that hard to maintain, either. The website is full of recipes, which thrills me and Mike because he loves to cook, and I love to watch in awe. Plus, we're always having a hard time trying to figure out what to have for dinner. So this will help that situation quite a bit.

Tonight we found a recipe and made it. It was delicious. It was a pretty simple pesto pasta, and Mike cooked part of a steak for me as well. So yummy. :-D (I don't have quite the food photography skills of the Smitten Kitchen people. Oh well.)

I also want to try to wake up earlier than I usually do... as to help my body not freak out when I get less than 10 hours of sleep. (Seriously.) I'm not talking crazy early. Just... not noon or after. Then maybe with some extra time in the mornings I can do crunches or whatever it is that people who exercise do. (I should figure that out.)

That's about all on that for now. I'm looking forward to some positive changes.

Okay. So here is the official list, Kerrie Approved.
(Crossed out movies have, obviously, been seen. Date listed. Because I'm OCD.)

1.Rachel Getting Married - 1/13
2.Revolutionary Road - 1/15
3.The Reader - 1/16
4.Slumdog Millionaire - 1/16
5.The Wrestler - 1/20
6.The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
7.Frost/Nixon
8.Last Chance Harvey
9.Happy-Go-Lucky
10.Vicky Cristina Barcelona - 1/19
11.Changeling - 1/17
12. Gran Torino

When I made the list, they were guesses as to what may be nominated, or things that had been nominated in the Golden Globes. Harvey, Happy-Go-Lucky, and Gran Torino are the movies that didn't make the Academy's cut. (To some backlash - apparently Sally Hawkings, who picked up the GG for her performance in Happy-Go-Lucky, is amazing. People are rather upset she wasn't given a nomination. I will judge in due time! Mwahaha... )

So! There it is! Hoping to knock one off tonight. I'll post it again as things are updated. Maybe start posting my thoughts now. However the mood strikes me. Or... whatever.

Oscar 2009

Though I was less than pleased to be awake before 9am today, I was lucky enough to catch the Oscar nominations as they were announced. As everyone who knows me knows, I've been on a movie crusade as of late, making a list of movies and crossing them off one by one. I haven't finished off the list yet, but I've seen enough to have some serious opinions about these nominees...

First off, the best picture nominees are not *too* surprising: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, and The Reader. I've seen 3 out of 5 here (Milk, Slumdog, and The Reader). It's almost a sure thing at this point in the game that Slumdog Millionaire will take this award, which I do believe is fairly deserving. There's been a lot of talk about The Dark Knight being "snubbed", but judging by the previous award shows, I don't know why people were expecting the Oscar nom. Christopher Nolan was robbed a director nom, but I couldn't see the

Academy recognizing a comic book film: which, I hate to break it to the die hard fans, is exactly what it is. I can't completely form my opinion until I see the last 2 of these, but my heart would be overly content with The Reader taking this award. It was the most unexpectedly moving and enthralling film I've seen thus far, also turning in one of the finest performances I've seen in a long time. Which brings me to...

This is Kate Winslet's year. It has to to be. She's nominated for Leading Actress for The Reader, against Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, and Melissa Leo. I'd say her only real competition is Meryl for her work in Doubt. I think the Academy may realize they're overlooked Kate's work for too long. But you never know. They've surprised/pissed me off in the past.

Everything else seems pretty straight-forward; Heath Ledger for Dark Knight, Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler. I'm pretty livid that Leonardo DiCaprio was overlooked for Revolutionary Road, when his performance was just that: revolutionary, in a movie that I found less than fantastic. My dream wins? The Reader for Best Picture, Kate Winslet for Leading Actress, Sean Penn for Leading Actor (a very moving performance), Heath Ledger for Supporting Actor, Amy Adams for Supporting Actress, Stephen Daldry for Direction, The Reader for Adapted Screenplay, and In Bruges for Original Screenply. Obviously some of these choices may change after seeing the remainder of the movies, but that's how it stands as of now. I should be the Academy.

First!

So... I probably need another blog like a I need a hole in the head, but Rose's just looks so pretty and fun that I couldn't help myself.

I haven't crafted a specific purpose for this one as of yet. I won't be recapping my days or talking about my life so much in here, otherwise I'd have no reason for my Livejournal. I can't post random pictures and audio files like in my Tumblr. (See how I pimped my other blogs seemlessly?) Though the latter sort of died pretty quickly.

I've been trying really hard these last couple of weeks to live creatively - hence my movie binge, a new acting journal I've started (written. No worries. ;-) ) So this may be another place to vent creative energy.

Also any random topic I may be inspired to talk about. So... that's specific.

So I still have no set purpose for this thing, but I'm sure it'll develop.
